CFFF Newsletter - December 13, 2023

Good Afternoon CFFF Family, Members, and Allies,

I hope this message finds you well. I'm pleased to provide you with an update on the recent progress and developments within our community.

But first, we need to inform everyone that the FEMA Town Hall for this evening in Mora, NM, has been moved to 100% virtual and will be held on ZOOM due to the inclement weather. Your safety is our top priority, and we believe this adjustment will allow everyone to participate safely.

Virtual Town Hall Details:

Date: Wednesday, December 13, 2023

Time: 5:30-7:00 p.m. MST

Platform: Zoom

Passcode: 1234

During this Town Hall, you will have the opportunity to hear from key stakeholders, including representatives from the Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Fire Claims Office, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and others. The agenda will cover essential topics such as reforestation, reseeding, tree planting, hazardous tree removal, private property debris removal, firewood distribution, and more.

We encourage you to actively participate, ask questions, and engage with the experts who will be present to address your concerns and provide valuable information.

I would also like to inform you that since the joint efforts of Coalition for Fire Fund Fairness (CFFF) members, elected officials, and allies in sending the letter to the Biden-Harris Administration, our cause has gained significant attention from the press. It's heartening to see that the people of Northern New Mexico are united in their desire for a FEMA claims process that truly works for everyone. The current system falls short for Northern New Mexicans, and it's evident that our community deserves a more effective and equitable approach.

In response to our collective efforts, we have successfully shifted the spotlight onto the challenges we face. The advocacy and resilience of our community have not gone unnoticed, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to achieving a better FEMA process.

Here is the latest Press that CFFF received from the Santa Fe New Mexican.

If you have any questions or need additional assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me. Your feedback and involvement are crucial to our collective success at CFFF, and we appreciate your ongoing support.

Best regards,

Manny Crespín Jr.
